Matthew Spalding is an accomplished hospitality and operations professional with nearly a decade of experience spanning premium event management, guest services, marketing, and logistics. With a career rooted in creating exceptional experiences, Matthew has built a reputation for thoughtful leadership, seamless execution, and a dedication to excellence in every facet of the guest journey.
Matthew currently serves in the Parking, Transportation, and Exterior Operations Department at UBS Arena at Belmont Park, a role he transitioned into in July 2024 after successfully managing premium club operations for nearly two years. In this new capacity, he oversees critical aspects of event-day logistics, including traffic flow, parking coordination, vendor access, and overall exterior guest experience. His ability to adapt quickly and manage complex moving parts has made him a vital part of the arena's operational leadership team, particularly as the venue continues to host high-profile concerts, sporting events, and private functions.
Prior to this transition, Matthew excelled as Premium Club Manager, where he led food and beverage operations across multiple premium clubs within the arena. He worked closely with culinary management to design menus, uphold SOPs, and deliver top-tier service to VIP clientele. His tenure also included time as Premium Catering Supervisor, where he oversaw catered events, trained staff, and ensured brand consistency and service excellence.
Matthew’s experience in hospitality extends to his role as Manager of Marketing & Business Operations at Ski Big Bear in Lackawaxen, PA, a position he has held since 2020. There, he blends his strategic and creative abilities, managing the ski area's social media presence, implementing new RFID ticketing systems, and supporting business growth initiatives that align with the resort’s long-term vision. His seasonal leadership at Ski Big Bear has deepened his love for the Pocono Mountains and his connection to the outdoor recreation industry.
Previously, Matthew served as Wedding & Event Coordinator at Woodloch Pines Resort, where he worked directly with clients to plan and execute weddings, group stays, and customized events. His career has also included guest-facing roles at One World Observatory in New York City and a Sales & Marketing Internship with the Providence-Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau, where he developed content and supported destination marketing efforts.
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science in Tourism & Hospitality Management. During his time in school, he also served as a Program Assistant with the Student Involvement & Leadership office, managing budgets and logistics for over 50 campus events monthly.
Matthew’s professional skills are complemented by his deep personal passions. A lifelong skier and lover of the outdoors, he thrives in the Pocono Mountains, where he also enjoys photography, lake life, and spending quality time with family and friends.
